See What We’ve Been Up to This Summer!

Hello from Sunlit Solar!

We hope you’ve been enjoying the sunshine! It’s been a busy and exciting few months here at Sunlit Solar, and we wanted to share some highlights with you.

Community Support & Sponsorships

We love supporting local events, and this summer was no exception!

Over the past few months, we’ve sponsored local sports teams (Isle of Wedmore U16 and U8s football teams, Isle of Wedmore U14s and adults cricket teams, Tor Rugby Minis and Juniors, Mark Cricket Club, Shapwick Cricket Club, Isle of Wedmore Bowls Club, Wells Rotary Club’s Nearest the Post prize); local events (Wedmore PTA’s Summer Fair, Yeovil Beer & Cider Festival, Ashcott Beer Festival, Wedmore Beer Festival, Sand Cider Festival, Mark Flower, Veg & Craft Show, Weare PTA Race Night, Dovecote School’s ECO Day, Wedmore Harvest Home) and local community projects (Wedmore in Bloom, Wedmore Theatre Club, Wedmore Opera Ltd, Wedmore Playing Fields).

Sunlit Solar also supported this year’s All Sections District Camp “Supercamp 2025”!

The event was held at Woodhouse Park back in May and brought together 11 Beaver Colonies, 16 Cub Packs, 12 Scout Troops and 4 Explorer Units for a brilliant weekend.

To help brighten up the campsite, Sunlit Solar donated £100 towards solar lighting and also provided temporary solar power with portable panels and a power station, which meant the site could still have light once the sun had gone down.

Our Operations Director, Emily Mulliner, also volunteered across the weekend and shared that it was a fantastic three nights filled with energy, fun and community spirit.

If you have a community event or project that you would like us to get involved with, please get in touch.

Exciting Solar Installations

Our team has been busy completing some incredible installations. Below is just a snapshot of what we have been up to.

So far this year, we’ve installed around 350kW of solar power! This translates to:

🌍 80 tons of CO₂ saved, equivalent to 3,211 trees planted.
🔋 Enough energy generated to power over 100 homes annually.

Burnham-On-Sea Community Centre

Sunlit Solar installed additional solar panels at Burnham-On-Sea Community Centre, helping them make the most of renewable energy while reducing running costs. The project was supported by funding from the Somerset Community Foundation, enabling the centre to take another step towards energy efficiency and sustainability.

As a local, family-run business, we value projects that benefit the community and make a practical difference for the people who use them. The new system will lower the centre’s carbon footprint, cut energy bills and provide long-term savings for a facility used by many local groups.

It’s a great example of how solar can deliver both environmental and practical benefits to community spaces close to home.

Make the Most of Your Solar with Battery Storage

If you already have solar panels, adding a home battery is a great way to get even more from your system. A battery stores the excess energy your panels generate during the day so you can use it later, reducing your reliance on the grid and helping lower your electricity bills.

Battery storage also gives you greater energy independence and backup power during outages, ensuring your home can keep running when you need it most. With options like the Tesla Powerwall 3 and SolarEdge Home Battery, there are flexible solutions to suit different homes and energy needs.
