Community Solar Projects with Sunlit Solar
Helping Local Communities Power a Greener Future!
As the world faces the urgent challenge of climate change, local communities across Somerset and the South West are stepping up to lead the way. At Sunlit Solar, we’re proud to work alongside inspiring community groups to help homes and businesses lower their carbon emissions and embrace a more sustainable future, one solar panel at a time.
We don’t just install solar systems – we support grassroots action, provide expert advice, and make clean energy more accessible for all.
Green Wedmore’s Solar Challenge 1000

One of our flagship partnerships is with Green Wedmore and their ambitious goal: to install 1,000 solar roofs by 2030.
This project aims to generate clean energy on 60% of the homes in the parish and we’re proud to have already contributed over 100 solar installations toward this total.
By helping Wedmore households reduce their bills and environmental impact, we’re supporting a community that’s truly leading by example in the transition to renewable energy.

Expanding Our Impact: Axevale & Priddy Initiatives
We’re also exited to be part of two other community-driven efforts:
1. The Axevale Climate Group Solar Initiative
2. The Priddy Solar Initiative

Both schemes share a clear goal: to empower local residents to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels through widespread access to solar energy. We’re proud to support these projects with trusted installation services, technical expertise and tailored advice, helping these communities take control of their energy future.

Why Community Solar Projects Matter
Community-led solar schemes are powerful. They unite people around a shared goal, lower collective carbon emissions and make solar energy feel achievable and local.
By participating in a community solar project, residents don’t just save money, they become part of a movement that contributes to climate action, energy independence and long-term sustainability.
Join the Movement
If you’re in Wedmore, Axevale, or Priddy, now is the perfect time to get involved. Take advantage of our exclusive discount, cut your energy bills and play your part in creating a greener, low-carbon community.
Not in one of these areas? No problem — we’re always open to working with new communities. If you’re interested in starting a similar solar scheme where you live, get in touch. We’d love to help you make it happen.
Other Ways That We Support Local Communities
Supporting sustainability from classrooms to cricket clubs!
At Sunlit Solar, we believe in making solar power accessible, understandable and beneficial to everyone, not just individual households. Our community work spans education, professional training, local sponsorship and support for the spaces that bring people together. Here’s how we’re helping drive positive change.
Outreach: Educational Workshops
We’re passionate about inspiring the next generation to think sustainably.
Sunlit Solar runs hands-on workshops in local schools and children’s activity groups, helping children understand the basics of solar energy and the wider impact of renewable technology on the environment.
At the end of each session, every child gets to build their own solar-powered toy as a fun and practical way to see clean energy in action. It’s a great introduction to how solar can be both exciting and important.
If you’re a teacher or youth group leader and would like to run a solar session with your group, we’d love to hear from you.
CPD Training for the Building Industry
We provide free CPD-certified training for professionals in the construction industry, including architects, builders and project managers, to help you confidently integrate solar into your projects.
Our sessions cover:
- How Solar PV works, output and efficiency
- Understanding panels, inverters and mounting systems
- System design: from roof orientation to client priorities
- What we need from you for accurate solar design
- Navigating planning, DNO approvals and regulations
- Best practices for installation teams on site
- What happens after install: support, SEG and system handover
- Insights into evolving technology and energy trends
It’s ideal for professionals looking to offer more sustainable solutions and deliver future-ready builds.

We’re committed to helping the heart of our communities run on cleaner energy. That’s why we offer a 10% discount on installations for community assets, including:
